Should I redo my calibration after an Hardware upgrade or a Software update?
When upgrading your StormAudio processor, it's important to know the actions you should take to complete the installation. Your calibration may need to be redone, or the firmware to be updated. The answer depends on what kind of upgrade you're applying.
Firmware update
If you're simply updating the firmware of your StormAudio processor (for example, a new software version with bug fixes, UI changes, or feature additions):
✅ Recalibration is not needed.
Your existing Dirac calibration and EQ settings are also updated and remain valid after the upgrade. The audio signal chain is not altered during a firmware upgrade.
However, if you’re upgrading from an old firmware version to a recent one, it might be a good idea to consider a new calibration.

Hardware upgrade
If you're modifying the hardware configuration, it depends on whether the change affects the audio signal path. Here's a quick breakdown:
Option/Upgrade | Action needed |
|---|---|
ADEC | |
HDMI 2.1 | |
MK1.5 | |
AES/EBU Inputs | ✅ None |
DAC | Recalibration recommended |
AoIP AES67 Outputs | Recalibration required |
AES/EBU Outputs | Recalibration required |
Additional XLR Outputs (+ DAC) | Recalibration required |
Summary
Only recalibrate if the signal path from the processor to the speakers is modified.
If you're only upgrading software, or adding inputs, your calibration remains valid.
