How can I upgrade my Bryston SP4?

This document outlines the procedure and benefits of upgrading a Bryston SP4 processor to the StormAudio platform.

  • The Bryston SP4 units are limited at firmware version 4.1r2

Upgrading to the StormAudio firmware unlocks ongoing software updates, advanced features, and hardware expandability

Upgrade process

License acquisition and activation

  1. Purchase the upgrade license by contacting your Installer, Distributor, or StormAudio Orders.

  2. You will then receive a license file to download.

  3. Activation:

    • Access the Bryston SP4 WebUI.

    • Navigate to the system settings and click Load License.

    • Upload the received license file to unlock the unit.

  4. Firmware update: Follow the standard upgrade procedures outlined on the StormAudio website to update the unit to the latest available firmware version.

    • Step 1: Upgrade to firmware 4.1r2 (versions prior to V4.1r2 only)

    • Step 2: Once step 1 is complete or if your current version is V4.1r2, upgrade to Special 4.2r0 firmware

    • Step 3: Once step 2 is complete, upgrade to firmware 4.7r3.

Perform the latest upgrade twice consecutively to apply the firmware onto your unit properly. The first update will update the unit startup sequence, the second will apply the full firmware on top of it.
